Live playback customization
Change voice, language, and speed during listening without restarting.
Speechdash applies playback changes immediately while audio is playing. You do not need to stop and restart the document.
Voice
Mode
What you can change mid-playback
| Setting | Where | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Voice preset | Voice popover on the playback bar | Next sentence uses the new character voice |
| Listening language | Same popover | TTS switches language for upcoming sentences |
| Eco vs Cloud | Same popover | Mode change applies on the next sentence (Cloud uses credits) |
| Playback speed | Speed control on the playback bar | Current and future sentences play at the new rate |
Voice roles during playback
Documents with dialogue-style versions may assign different roles (Narrator, Questioner, Expert) to passages. Role-to-voice mapping comes from your defaults in Settings → General, but you can override the active voice anytime from the playback bar.
Defaults vs saved changes
| Scope | Applies to |
|---|---|
| Settings → General | Default voices and speed for new imports and new versions |
| Playback bar | The active document version (saved when you change voice, speed, Eco/Cloud, or listening language) |
Changing speed or voice on the bar updates this document's saved playback settings. It does not change your account defaults in Settings unless you edit those separately.
Eco mode note
In Eco mode, voice synthesis runs locally in your browser. All ten presets and speed changes work offline after the page loads. Cloud mode streams higher-quality audio and deducts credits per sentence.
