Eco mode vs Cloud mode

Choose between free local playback and server playback that uses credits.

Speechdash offers two playback modes with the same voice presets but different infrastructure and billing.

Switch modes from the voice popover on the playback bar in the Speechdash app.

Eco mode

  • Runs in your browser
  • Unlimited listening
  • No credits used

Cloud mode

  • Server-generated audio
  • ~1 credit / minute
  • Works on more devices
Eco runs locally in your browser; Cloud uses Speechdash servers.

Eco mode

  • Runs locally in your browser (modern desktop browser with WebAssembly)
  • Unlimited listening at no credit cost
  • Same ten character voices (Nathan, Sophie, and the rest of the catalog)
  • Best for everyday listening when your device supports it

Cloud mode

  • Audio generated on Speechdash servers
  • Uses credits from your wallet (~1 credit per minute at 1× speed)
  • Works when Eco is unavailable or you prefer server quality
  • Falls back to Eco automatically when Cloud is unreachable

Switch modes

Open the voice popover on the playback bar and select Eco or Cloud. Changes apply immediately during playback, including voice and language switches.
