Quick start: your first file
Drop a file, then transcribe or listen in a few minutes.
This guide gets you from the homepage to your first transcript or listen.

Browse filesOpen speechdash.com. You can create up to 3 documents per day without an account. Sign in to keep your library and to transcribe audio or video.
On the homepage, drop a file or click Browse files. PDF and text files become a document to listen to. Audio and video start a transcription. The homepage does not accept pasted text or URLs.
For a document, Speechdash opens the reader. PDF imports may show a processing panel while text is extracted. For audio or video, Speechdash starts a job. When it finishes, the text opens in Library.
Press Play on the playback bar to listen. Speechdash highlights each sentence as it speaks.
Open the voice popover to pick a voice and choose Eco (local, unlimited) or Cloud (server, uses credits). See Eco mode vs Cloud mode.
Tips
- Use In progress on the homepage to resume a document.
- Open Library from the sidebar to read documents and finished transcripts. Open Transcriptions for the job queue (upload and progress).
- Free accounts (and guests) can create 3 listening documents per day and import about 30 minutes per document (1 file at a time). Transcription after sign-up: 30 minutes per file, 1 job, 500 MB, 0.5 credits per started minute. Unlimited lifts the daily cap and raises document uploads to 10 hours / 5 GB and transcription to 10 hours (5 jobs).
